But then you have 4 division champions. Better to do 2 divisions/4 pods like the WAC in the late 1990s.

No just 2 champions. The potential matchups just rotate

Year 1:
A/B winner vs C/D winner

Year 2:
A/C winner vs B/D winner

Year 3:
A/D winner vs B/C winner



The WAC does not have near the complexity and drama of the SEC powers that be.
