Is it realistic to expect this coaching staff and team to go 11-1 and make the playoffs? If not then what is acceptable?

Where did I say it wasn’t ok to expect 11-1?First off, I think the days of the committee giving 2 SEC teams a playoff berth are done without some OOC teams giving some serious help. I don’t think if we were 11-1 with a loss to Bama we would make it anymore. It’s unfair but I think that’s how it is. My point was saying 11-1 is “the bar” is intrinsically different from saying it’s expected. Saying 11-1 is the bar implies something negative about anything below 11-1, and also is just a generally dumb way to view a college sport. While I would prefer 11-1, I wouldn’t be screaming my head off if we went 10-2.

Expect, maybe. It is definitely reasonable to be hopeful, tough expectant may be dangerous (for the nerves ) territory.

I think it is realistic to expect 10-2 and to be hopeful for and not surprised by 11-1. It is even reasonable, at this point, to allow for the possibility of an undefeated regular season.

I hesitate to use the term "bar" because most of the time people use that in reference to running off a coach. All sorts of things can transpire in the season that change those expectations, not the least of which are teams being better than expected and injuries cause us problems.

Ultimately, the specific loss or losses also imp[act my assessment of a season. That being said, I will be disappointed if LSU wins less than 10 regular season games.

FTR I was not a fan of the O hire but I acknowledge he has outperformed my expectations whough underperformed relative to my hopes. As of today, I am on neither bandwagon and, though I was initially underwhelmed, I like what I've seen regarding recruiting in the last year or so.

12-0 or 11-1 is a great season, 10-2 is the floor for a good season for me barring any unexpected developments, anything less will require an evaluation of the losses to determine if the season was still a good season given specific circumstances. The following assessments are based on no significant injuries. 9-3 would be within the gray area of acceptable, though disappointing. An 8-4 regular season this season would be an utter disappointment under almost any circumstances.
