Why can we use IR for covid only but not for people on 3 week IR?
Again, we haven't used IR in the last 6 years of this league. Literally the only reason I suggested it was as a way to deal with COVID related inactives...not minor injuries.

there are way more people on 3 week IR vs covid IR.
Exactly, those are injury related. It makes waiver decisions harder and forces managers to make tougher decisions. I will always prefer there being more players available on waivers vs managers being able to hoard them. But COVID is a unique situation that I feel warrants being able to pick up a replacement player without penalty.
This is why you vote BEFORE the draft. I'd rather just do away with the IR spots altogether if we aren't going to use them for COVID only inactives.

But designated for any purpose or just covid?
Kind of takes team management out of the equation if its just for any IR. Like Bell. Without IR slots that owner needs to weigh the risk reward of either holding on to him or dropping him and opening the rest of the league to weigh that decision as well. Now people can just stash studs that got hurt and not even have to think about it.

Yes or no? It's not difficult. Just vote.

For example, Go DJ Thats My DJ should have to drop a player. Stashing Deebo on IR in order to block other mangers from picking up Barber or Hyde, or possibly have one of them go off then decide to keep them over Deebo in two weeks was not the intention of the IR spots this season.

I picked up Barber and Hyde AFTER waivers processed this morning. If anyone wanted them, they could have had them for $0.
You seem to be bitching just to bitch, to be honest.
ETA: Before I picked them up I checked the rosters. Bell, Mack and D. Harris were all in IR spots. If it is Covid only, say so. That was never announced, nor made clear.

The spots were added just for Covid, but you can't just designate covid IR spots on ESPN. It has to be for all IR eligible players. This would have to be self monitored.

I agree with the above. Only really affects 1 team right now.
After week 3, I will enforce the true intention of the added roster spots. I would like to do it now, but will not force anyone to drop players at this moment unless they are willing to help the league out.

Yeah I saw you made the moves AFTER I brought this up this morning. Funny timing. I was actually considering picking up Barber. But well played I guess.
No, I'm not bitching to bitch, to be honest. I'm just trying to make sure we are all playing by the same rules. I was under the impression the IR spots were added as per my suggestion...for COVID only.
I guess I wrongly assumed that everyone saw my post on TD and on the league message board about the COVID IR spots.

If someone is designated IR, they should be allowed in IR spot (my vote if it matters).
It really seems silly to try and police “what type of IR designation” on ESPN, but whatever the league wants I will go along with.
I agree everyone should be playing by the same set of rule understanding.
I would have expected the primary issue the league would have with ESPN IR is OUT players are allowed in the IR slot.

There shouldn't be many COVID inactives this season, so I don't see it being too hard to police(just play by the rules). Hopefully we won't even have to use these spots much at all.
I vote we keep them in place and just use them for COVID only inactives.
And the payout structure seems like a pretty fair compromise based on last year's "negotiations."

Dude, you're the commish. Collect the votes and let's decide all of this now.

The above was sent to everyone before the draft when the league was recruiting new members.

The IR will be COVID only. RB10 dropped someone and CAJUNSAINTS currently has an open roster spot so all rosters are currently correct.

Looks like it’s all been sorted out but for the record I agree with this as well
I understood the IR spots to be for COVID when they were added.

I also think that sounds like a fair resolution, commish

Honestly if we can't put someone who is in IR for 3 weeks in IR spot then we should just get rid of IR spots altogether.
Not sure why we can use IR for covid but not 3 week IR. They are out for same amount of time

It’s just not what was intended.
There was a lot of uncertainty (still is as we’re only one week in) about how Covid would impact fantasy this season. Most leagues tried to be proactive in setting up a system where Covid designations wouldn’t force teams to drop players.
The new IR rules for an injury designation in the NFL was not why we reversed the six year trend in not having IR spots for our fantasy league. It’s basically just an OUT designation that allows them to bring another active player up from practice squad and not create complications with the cap due to not having the normal offseason and preseason.
We don’t have the cap restrictions teams do, so we don’t need it for a player that is for all intents and purposes just ruled OUT
