Alaska is a weird place with weird as frick people. Some people love it, some people hate it. I fell into the hate it category. You get desensitized to the scenery just like everywhere else and then it just becomes where you live. Glad I don’t live there anymore, I’m not a big fan of cold weather and really hate snow.
As for the sunlight argument, you mostly miss it. Kids are in school and adults are at work. It gets hard during those short days with feeling little to no sun.
