Most home invasions occur between 6AM - 6PM (when people are not home or when people less expect it).
But if it is one of those situations where they lock it and something is going on and you are going in and out of the house.. And everytime you go to open the door, you don't even think about it.. And then you go to go in and it is locked then yeah I can that being annoying. It might just be force of habit.
But I can see how there is a line between safety and annoyance.

I’d love to see crime stats on that. Home invasions with homeowners in the house during the day
