I am legit worried one of these nut jobs are going to go after Trump. Like him or hate him, an assassination will tear this country apart.
For the resident progs, I can see it going the other way too where someone takes offense to the gun rhetoric and goes after a politician. The US is one gigantic powder keg right now, and I'm still of the opinion Steve Scalise surviving saved a lot of bloodshed.

There is a recent precedent. The Weather Underground.
I remember my father talking about working in politics in that era. He worried about revolutionary sentiment.
You also had the Indian seizure of the Interior Department in that period. For six days in November of 72, they controlled the building.
