One of my various and weird hobbies is collecting recordings of broadcasts from World War II. I even made a YouTube channel for them. If you listen to the news broadcasts of that day, even then people knew the significance and importance of those landings.
The men who landed on those beaches didn’t know what to expect. It was no secret that the Germans pinned their hopes on stopping the invasion right there on the beaches. These boys didn’t know if there would be 10,000 casualties or 100,000 casualties. This action is one of the most significant in all of human history.
