I was listening to the app and caught the Monday show. They said it was the anniversary of the death of Wolfman Jack, 24 years ago Monday.
So Walton died 24 years to the day after Wolfman Jack.

Damn, this is really a loss to me. John Walton is a radio legend and will be sorely missed. Makes me sad that I’ll never hear his sarcastic and hilarious takes on current events.
Don’t think anyone can replace him unfortunately.
