I'm not trolling, nor am I obtuse. I'm trying to challenge people on their presuppositions and why they believe what they believe. Most people take for granted their foundational presuppositions and assume all others believe likewise or share a similar worldview.

In this case, I'm simply asking why anyone should respect or tolerate anyone or anything else. If you're talking about the Constitutional right to free speech and expression, then that's fine.
