The hell you don’t... You realize we signed 2 true DL last year? You win championships on the line of scrimmage. You have to take more than 4 quality DL this go around.

It’s controversial because of what we are doing at other positions.
We have 16 linebackers for 2020. That’s great! We have 6 tight ends. That’s great too! We have 8 corners. That’s great.
But wait. Now we are thin at OL. Now we are thin at DL in supporting depth.
We added juco tight end and defensive end.
We may want to just stay at 7 corner backs. Maybe we want to get to 14 linebackers instead of 16. Now we offer A project juco in Ali Gaye.
It looks nickel-dime, but here is your answer why we may have to take 4 dL instead of 6.
But the real issue is this. (Downvote bucket deployed). We haven’t been able to to land top dL talent and then our answer is to throw 6 offers at guys that are doing what the guys currently on our roster are doing.......they are hoping to contribute.
Remember when I said we offer a juco Ali Gaye. Because Alabama is offering some 6-5 285 hs senior that knows to wait his turn. He will be a beast by the time Ali Gaye is graduating as a third teamer.
This is the hard fact. Saban recruits for starters that have to wait in line. We are offering juco that MAY play but recruiting juco and redshirting them isn’t ideal.
And this is another attempt at downvotes. We are woefully thin at guard and center while having actually great numbers at tackle we have 8.....maybe ten. But those are numbers only. We have hinged our hopes on cam wire and dare rose thal along with the hope that turner and Parker will eat a lot of food.

I’m willing to bet we sign more than 4. Now there might be some SDE that we sign but it’ll be more than 4. If we sign those 4 it’ll be 5 already with the JUCO guy we just got. Plus LSU may possibly move one or two of the WDEs we have committed to the DL. Depends on how they grow and perform in the future.
The guys we have committed could easily put on more weight and play around 265 or 270. LSU needs to get more athletic on the DL. O and Aranda can see this clearly and are doing something about it. We are going to sign a variety of guys and see where they stand once developed. I said this last year that LSU needed to start looking at a variety of body types and see what fits the scheme best once they are ready to play. Even if we move guys around and play them on different downs it would make our defense so much harder to scheme against. I love it. GT
