Not sure how you don’t get this. It’s literally the exact opposite of Cam and Les calling plays that didn’t fit our QB’s style of play. It’s one of Ensminger’s strengths. He doesn’t try to make the player fit the offense (i.e. square peg, round hole), he builds the play calling around the skill set of the QB.

Steve definitely knew that with a QB who could run, going max protect was the best way to get him in space.

That's got to be the reason Ed has produced so many more seasons exceeding his predecessor's career W/L average.
ETA: I haven't researched previous staff's career avg offensive ppg vs Ed's, so edited in honesty.

It took the entire season to get there. Burrow had plenty of sub 50% games and no tds. He was good against ole Miss then went on a pretty meh stretch where we lost to UF and Bama.
