That said, he has his work cut out for him for next year when this 2018 class is supposed to take on a more prominent role

This is the ONLY player from the 2018 class that is leaving that had actually been on the field for more than a few plays.

And was also was not at the very bottom of the recruiting rankings for that year's class.

Davin Cotton 1 tackle against SE La and 2 against Rice
Dantrieze Scott no stats, no games listed
Tae Provens 4 carries 13 yards against Rice
Zach Sheffer did not play
Dominic Livingston no stats only game was against Rice

So yeah, he is losing one, possibly two players that would have played this year. Eaux really has his work cut out for him. He has to decide whether to replace K. Joseph with Derek or Mr Stingley or he may just go with Derek Stingley. Tough, tough choice.

The class you are crying about also had these lesser known players:

Ja'Marr Chase
Terrace Marshall
Chasen Hines57
Damien Lewis
Badara Traore
Chris Curry
Micah Baskerville who played in 8 games and had 11 tackles against Florida

Though 2019 will probably have more starters than the 2018 class:

Derek Stingley
Apu Ika
John Emery
Cade York
Tyrion Davis
Marcel Brooks

Not to mention other possibles to play a LOT if not start:

Kardell
Maurice Hampton
Donte Starks
Devonta Lee (at safety more than WR)
Anthony Bradford
Raydar
Jay Ward
Kendall McCallum
Soni Fonua

You just admitted that the 2018 class is already surpassed by a class that doesn’t fully arrive on campus until next month.

Agreed. There is never a scenario where it's beneficial to have talented depth at a position, or so much talent that even your three or four deep defensive backfield is made up of quality players.

You say this to dismiss transfers, then bring up Chris Curry, Micah Baskerville and Chasen Hines.

Let's also not forget that Lewis and Traore were upper class players who are Seniors this season and have no possibility of contributing in 2020 or 2021.

If these guys are starting or playing a lot, what does that say about the incoming talent?
