You drop a few midweek games because you are working out pitchers who don't throw on the weekend, it's not a big deal. It is not going to hurt you at the end of the year.
You drop midweek games because your hitters decide not to give a shite, and look lazy and uninterested, that's a problem.

100%.
Everybody understands that midweek games are scrimmages for your bullpen. But the lineup is the same. Your bats should always be there raking and keeping that confidence up. If anything, the midweek games are where you go out there and smash the ball to get your confidence ready for the tough series coming up on the weekend.
