I have a friend who has 2 $25k Rolex’s and just bought a Richard Mille McClaren for $190k. He is a sucker for watches, old cars(he has over 30), and guns. He is wealthy enough to buy that kind of stuff when he wants and claims the watches are investments. He gave me a nice Citizen Blue Angels watch and it’s the nicest one I own because he felt sorry for me wearing my Jack Mason $300 watch, LOL. I took it without batting an eye and wear that sucker almost everyday. Not sure about a guy who barely makes 6 figures buying one but the ultra wealthy buy stuff like that like I would buy a $250 pair of Johnston & Murphy’s.

That is actually a good price for an RM11-03 but he will have to watch the market closely if he doesn't want to get burned, assuming he doesn't want to keep it forever. The issue with the RMs is that the demand is a result of it being one of the current "it" watches for celebrities, particularly rappers and pro athletes and just like the many themed Audemars Piguet ROO Chronos when they are no longer the watch du jour the market will evaporate. It isn't like they are what most people see as a generational watch. The bi-color forged carbon on this particular watch is very interesting but I think the quality and pattern on my AP Carbon Diver is done better.
