It's plummy and has some cherry flavors and dry and acidic. Pretty interesting. Apparently they blend it with Sangiovese in Abruzzo. It sounds like a cheap wine and it's only made well in this one region and it's not Montepulciano lol

Montepulciano is a grape and it’s also a town. The town produces Vino Nobile de Montepulciano which is made from Sangiovese grapes. The wine wutang referred to is made in a different region on the eastern coast of Italy. The other side of the mountains from the town. The town is adjacent to Tuscany and is fairly close to Montalcino which is where Brunello is produced.
