Awesome thread...just noticed it. Tonight with my steak I had Amor Fati Syrah 2013 vintage from the Santa Maria Valley in California. Spicy hit on the front and dark fruits on the back...just like a good syrah should be.

Lovely monovarietal Cabernet Franc from Bordeaux, to accompany a solid pork dish.

Very economical, hollow in a good sense (I prefer French and Spanish wines, to Italian, US and South American, which tend to be of a thick, soupy style), and very tasty (in spite of cab Franc being considered a low Calibre grape which is highly impregnable and devoid of character if alone).
