Wade said he will always go after the best players in the state. He will also use Louisiana ties to get players into the squad. For example, our highest rated signee for 2021 is Fudge. Fudge has Louisiana ties with family in the Lafayette area.

i have 0 complaints about wade and his recruiting. i'm excited about this year's team and the direction of the hoops program. my question was more about whether LA is still putting out top basketball talent. obviously, talent level ebbs and flows from year to year, but in 2021, if this year's rankings are mostly correct, there isn't anyone from LA who rank in the top 25 of their position. it seems like there are usually (at least) 1-3 standout players per year. wasn't sure if this was isolated to just 2021 or if there's a trend of LA not putting out the same level of basketball talent as it used to.

Wade has been asked this question as well as his relationship to LA high school basketball coaches. Of course, he has to be politically correct.

My take is that he is good with LA high school players and coaches. In fact, he has mentioned the in state talent he recruited when he was at VCU. If there are LA players he feels that can help the team, he will go after them hard. He felt that Jalen Cook was the best LA player last year and got him. He would have gone after Josh Leblanc harder, but it was the year he got Emmitt Williams and Darius Days who were both higher rated. And, we did end up with Josh Leblanc after all.

I have not heard much buzz about the 2021 LA talent. It does not look like we are recruiting anyone in state this year. It would be nice to have one or two great in state players to go after each year, but things go in cycles it seems.
