Shaft Question

If my driver swing speed is right on the line between regular and stiff, what are the benefits of choosing regular and vice versa?
I'm eventually going to do a fitting, but trying to get through this season.

Go with the least amount of flex you can control

This.
I assume your SS is around 100mph. You’ll get more distance with a regular flex shaft but your dispersion will suffer at times. You could tip the regular shaft a tad to help with this.
My SS is 113-116 and I can swing a regular shaft but I have to try to cut the ball to keep from hooking the shite out of it.
FWIW, I use a Project X Smoke 6.0 in my driver. It feels like an X-flex when i swing it, but I get 15+ yards more compared to the 6.5.

That’s the general rule. You could tip a regular a little bit.

That’s weird, I thought a too flexible low torque shaft would make you hit it right and the opposite for too stiff

When you overpower a driver shaft the ball either tends to balloon with a lot of spin or hook.

Best fix is to go with a lightweight stiff
Tensei Blue 50 gram or Atmos Blue 60 stiff
trust me
need to get fit on a monitor and go with the one that spins the less. Spin needs to be in a range of 2200-2700 rpm

This is a loaded question for several reasons. Flex will be inconsistent across different shaft brands. Your transition and loading is just as important as your swing speed and the weight of the shaft will have an impact as well. All the reasons to go get fit or do a demo day so that you have the right setup.

The proper answer is to go see a fitter. Bebu will do a Driver Shaft fitting for $150, and take $50 off if you buy the shaft from him.
I ended up with a tipped regular vs the stiff went in with. I gained carry and total distance. Gave up no accuracy.
Definitely worth the extra price of a green fee at a nice course for something you’ll use for a few years to know it’s the right shaft for you.

Update: went with an Evenflow Blue 65 stuff. Trimmed from to butt to 44.5"
Seems to be good so far.
