Looking at the last for years in recruiting LSU is not significantly more talented than Texas. Both teams are actually pretty even in talent.
Whatever you need to tell yourself

They're replacing a defense but they're replacing them with players from the #3 ranked recruiting class in 2018. Probably better players than they had before.
I'll be impressed if we go in there and wax them by two or more scores.
Outside of possibly the JUCO DE, they don't have a guy on the line coming in that should or could start in game 2. They lost 3 corners and only bring in one 4 star corner. They have plenty of high profile linebackers coming in, but these guys lost 8 players on defense. That defense is going to be really bad early on.
Do you remember how LSU dealt with losing all that defensive talent after 2016? We had a top 7 recruiting class with 7 of our 8 top 100 being defensive players, but we still played bad defense vs some bad teams and teams that we had no business giving up as much as we did.
Game 3 7-37 loss @ MSU
Game 4 35-26 win vs 4-8 Syracuse
Game 5 17-24 loss vs Troy???
Game 6 17-16 win vs 4-8 UF
Defense got better as they gained experience, but we also played just some really bad teams on both sides of the ball.
I said all that to say, Texas is f**ked

Which team would you suggest?
Southern Miss?
Louisville?
West Virginia?

Texas as a state spends substantially more on its education. Second Texas is a mini country and a monetary force. Brains, Austin, QB prowess, mistake free football, AND 250, 000 rabid drunk fist fighting Texas fans who hate our guts.

Ehlinger will be a heisman candidate, and playing on the road in game 1 will be tough. I think we out score them in the end, though.

QBs Shane Buechele (SMU) and Cameron Rising (Utah) have both transferred. RS Freshman Casey Thompson was in the transfer portal, but has stuck around.
I still like an LSU semi-blowout - 37-17

LSU runs away with it towards the end. UT lost too much in their front 7 to hang with us for 4 quarters.
LSU 31 UT 10
LSU 31 UT 10

He won’t be a contender at the end of the year

But it's true
Don't worry, you're not alone. Miami fans were saying things like this all last summer to convince and hype themselves up about their top ten team. Yet it was 33-3 going into the fourth quarter. LSU is a lot better this year. It will be a 31-10 type of game and the longhorn melt will be epic.

But Tom Herman is locked into Tim Beck's offense that they rename every year, but still appears to be the 2-decade old Read/option with Pro/Spread elements. Texas does indeed have tons of talent, but I'll be very surprised if the Herman/Beck offense can keep up in scoring with LSU's Spread/RPO.
Texas has enough talent to win 9 or 10 again in the Big-12 (including non-conference), but will be out-schemed by LSU in September, IMO.
And, "Lotsa luck" to to Herman's O against LSU's loaded defense.

Miami has not recruited as good as Texas recently. Don't know what you are trying to say. As far as hype I could care less who wins the game honestly.
