Most of western Turkey is completely safe. Now once you start going east of Adana it starts to get a bit dicey...Malatya wasn't too bad though.

She would love shopping in the grand bazaar
I haven’t visited since 2014, the peak of isis and Syrian migrants and felt completely safe. Some of the most friendly people I’ve meet as well. There’s a large military/police presence around the entire city.
