and then allowing O to hire Ensminger even though E hadn’t coached a competitive offense since the Clinton administration

Wait. You think he just allowed O to hire Steve.

Yes. Why would he object to it? Alleva wasn't coaching the football team so that hire goes to the HC of the football team. Like any football coach makes.

To be fair, O stated that he would go out and get "the best coordinators available."

He didn't have to be concerned with the DC, that was already taken care of by Miles.

He went and hired Canada after Pitt beat Clemson. This was O's decision.

Making Ensminger the permanent OC didn't take place until after Orgeron fired Canada for some reason. They didn't mesh, whatever the case may be but the Canada hire is on Orgeron.

I'm the last one that will purposely drag any coach's name through the mud but while I do think that Ensminger does his best, I can't say he's the best option. He's a Tiger always, no question about that but at the same time, is he the best option to cultivate the offense on this football team?

He was promoted from within. Again, he was on Miles' staff as the TE coach.

My point is that it doesn't seem like O wanted to have a search for a seasoned OC. Yes, he had been an OC before but it's been around 20 years since that time.

We'll find out in short order how the offense really looks when football season starts.
