That's the only problem with glue traps. They are not going to kill the rodent quickly and they can walk off with them if big enough.
Like mentioned, I mainly use the old style wooden snap traps and always tie them off to something, especially the rat traps. I've seen rats drag snap traps off before they died of their injuries.

I've seen mice chew their own legs off after getting caught on a glue trap. Also the black Tomcat rat trap do not work for mice. I've smeared peanut butter on it and mice don't weight enough to trip it. They lick it clean.
As I stated previously with my experience in owning chickens. Rolling log mouse trap can catch or kill multiple mice without having to reset it like the wooden snap traps
