You are probably right about this all being above Alleva’s head. I’ve been around the USG enough to know how politics works and seen how much “power” people who we would consider to be in very powerful positions really have.
Even if it is the same in the LSU hierarchy and Alleve doesn’t have the sway the office he holds is believed to have, he HAS to do better in the PR department. He can have no real power behind the scenes, but he could have handled this entire situation so much differently. Even if he doesn’t like dealing with the media or fans all he has to do his have an effective media/fan relations person that does most of the PR for him. His job is to make money and make sure LSU athletics are viewed positively.
He’s making money in the short term, but I do believe that his continual mismanagement of these situations will be a long term problem with second, third, and fourth order effects that he can’t even understand.
