You're not doing your loyal departed companion a disservice by moving on.
The wife and I have lots of animals, and a lot of love to give. My thought has always been, if you have the ability to care for that animal, and love to give it (which you obviously do after recently losing a good friend) then get that new friend.
It can ease the sting of a grieving period. And if you start thinking to yourself (which I always do), "Am I moving on too quickly? Do I owe 'ol Gus a longer period of mourning?", then just remember that your pup was loyal and wanted you to be happy. You know exactly what I mean. They would want you to share your love with another pup that might otherwise miss out on having such a good family.
IMHO, if you have already decided that you're definitely getting another companion eventually, then why delay it? Start looking around. Your new puppy will pick you. This has always been my experience, 100%.
If the grief is still just far too near, then give yourself some time. But if, as you say, the house already feels empty, it's time to at least start looking around, even if you're not fully ready to commit. When the right pup looks you in the eye, you'll know you're ready.

We're still in the grieving stage. Gonna take some time.
