I’ve tried every bait I can get my hands on from Stinkbaits to cutbait, same goes for spots trees, sandbars, rocks etc. but I’ve never had a bite, I have no clue what I’m doing wrong. I’m not asking for spots because I know no one gives those out but any tips for this time of year?

How are you fishing it? When I fish the Miss. River it is always with a heavy sinker-----up to 4 oz. depending on how fast the current is running. I tie on the sinker first and then tie off about a 12 inch loop to put the hook on.
I always bottom fish and keep a tight line. As for baits used, mostly earthworms, bait shrimp, liver balls and sometimes crawfish.
Best results over the years has been with earthworms, followed by bait shrimp.

Yeah 4 oz bell sinker on bottom and a circle hook or Khale about 12-15 inch above the sinker, and I wait about 30-45 min before I check bait and recast. And im prob going tomorrow and trying earthworms again, some dude told me they are the best bait for where I was fishing.

I posted to another thread about river fishing that last week I had made a run to Banting's Nursery on the West Bank near the Huey P and after I got my plants and seeds I walked across the levee to check things out.
There were 2 guys fishing about 100 ft. apart and one guy who'd been there less than 1 hr. had 2 blue cats, one about 5 lbs. and the other a good 25 lbs.
The other guy had just gotten there and only had his lines in the water a couple minutes, so he didn't have anything.
Both fish were caught on earthworms.

Good to know, definitely going to go try tomorrow before everyone gets on the levee. Thanks for the help!
