Where it may come into play is making this assertion way pretrial, send ole boy to rehab, and then go hat in hand to the DA and convince them that it was a negative force in his life, that he's admitted his addiction and come to terms with it, and has and is addressing it in xyz ways. And pretty please will you offer a lesser plea due to the aforementioned. But crowing about how you intend to mount this defense at trial isnt a real good way to get kind treatment from DA.
