Most humans have an innate desire to be a part of something larger than themselves, and to be personally invested in that.

These televangelists attract the people that are unable to get that feeling anywhere else.

Think about all the churches of various religions that are located in whatever community you live. Pretty much all of them (not so much the Catholics) would LOVE for you to come check them out next Sunday, they have active outreach, etc. So if you are watching Hinn or the others on tv, you likely have some sort of reason you CAN'T get to a local church (old, sick, etc). Not coincidentally, these groups are also the most likely to send their money to these organizations.
