I am trying to level my lawn and have a couple of questions for guidance.
I read on a thread here that river silt will have a bunch of weeds and grass in it.
I have also read that I should use masonry sand with a mix of topsoil. The problem I’ve had with topsoil is that it has all the woody bark like material in it that I don’t necessarily want in my yard either.
What should I do and which is the best of two bad options?

I would just wait until your grass is growing well and use masonry sand. Forget top soil especially if it has bark in it.
