Ladies and Gentlemen, with the first pick in the 2019 Recruiting Mock Draft, I select.....
Derek Stingley Jr
Cornerback
LSU
Committed to LSU on June 20th and was an early signee, Stingley enrolled early and even got to practice with the Tigers for the Fiesta Bowl practices. Dave Arranda said of Stingley “He looked like he was the best guy we got,” adding “The practices that he played in, he had like three picks or something like that.” LSU did not sign a true Corner in the 18-19 class, mostly due to a last minute flip from Pat Surtain, but with the signing of Stingley, the Tigers seem to have corrected that error. Stingley looks to contribute early and often for the Tigers, as the depth chart and his incredible ability should give him the opportunity. “I think he’s the best recruit out of Louisiana since (Leonard) Fournette, and obviously that’s high company, but he’s a freak,” 247Sports recruiting expert Shea Dixon said. “He’s got everything you like in a corner, and he’s unbelievable on the field. I think he’s a day-one starter.” He was laser timed in the forty at a scorching 4.30 and has a vertical leap of 42”, he has the kind of size and explosiveness not seen at LSU since the likes of Patrick Peterson.
