It is 100% the economic driver behind their entire university. Their enrollment is way up because of it

This. From the lowest level booster, to compliance, the smoking hot student escorts, the mega donors, to the AD and president... if Saban asks for it he gets it. No questions asked. They are a machine working towards a singular goal.
They, and us as well, live in the gray area. They just have more devoted resources. We may have a few boosters willing to give an unqualified mom an ambiguous administrative assistant job to the tune of 100k a year. They have hundreds, and an organized network to facilitate it. Meanwhile our boosters argue over the coach.
If done right it can even be in plain sight. How do you prove a family member isn’t qualified for a job that requires little formal training besides knowing someone? How do you dictate to a booster that they can’t rent that house to a poor black family who pays cash? What if a dealership is willing to hand out 20% interest loans on a tiny monthly payment for a car, and most people just decline that finance option? If you can keep the actual value of the benefit per month reasonable and spread out then it won’t attract attention.
Cash does change hands but usually only from the dumb ones (read: Ole Miss) or in small untraceable amounts on visits. Cash rocks the boat and will get you reported, because it can trump all else and could lead to the IRS sniffing around.

This is the most accurate description of the difference between them and us. That's why it is laughable that people judge the success of a coach based on how he does against Bama.
They are the gorilla in the room. You can't point fingers and discuss conspiracy but the fact is that they are all in on the football.
