I agree, but I also do not harbor any illusion that this favor will be returned in today's toxic environment

I have been wrong before & the Senate is where "cooler heads" are supposed to prevail

Dems went nuclear 1st on judicial appointments & Repubs returned the favor (admittedly, with higher stakes)

I will be shocked if the Dems sit on their hands and don't raise the stakes again if Repubs are holding up a bill they really want
