I guess I'd word that quite differently. I'd say the shared faith is Christianity, belief in God, and His son Jesus as Savior.
Religions are a construct of man, and therefore corrupt, for the most part. That would be where your Baptists, Catholics, Lutherans, Presbyterians what have you come in.

Down vote if it makes you feel better, but as far as I know, every religion can be traced back to a man.
