This cannot be stated strongly enough. There is ancient hatred between these peoples going back to the days of the Teutonic Order.
As for this speculation, Britain never surrenders without invasion. I do not think the Royal Navy would ever lose control of the channel, so no invasion. Just a prolonged cold war.
