Ugh. I wish I could. I don’t have much reliable help in the office so any time I take off I know I’m returning to a massive shitstorm that will take twice as long to fix. I’m going to end up losing a ton of pto this year

Same. Every time I take more than a couple days off they break something.

And that's exactly what they want. Why pay for additional staffing when they know you'll get it done? Take your days and get the work done when you have time to do so. If shite falls behind, let them know why. If they still DGAF, then still take care of you the way they're taking care of themselves.
