And 3 of our 6 right now are 5*. None of their instate recruits are 5* so I’d say we’re ahead of them even tho we have the same number of players. And each one of those instate 5* recruits we have, all hold offers from your dad nick

You are right when looking at it that way. No doubt! I just phrased it that way to counter another poster using the way he laid it out.

As far as Nick, I loved him when he was at LSU...he brought us out of irrelevance to a contender to National Champion...to be the best, you must beat the best. He built our program up from the ashes of DiNardo, Hallman, Archer, and Charlie Mac. They were all losers who settled for second best. Saban is a winner. And, as General Patton said, "America hates a loser and loves a winner". But, I still hate Bama and I root for them to lose every game. I swear to God, I do. But, regardless of my utter hate for Bama, you must respect Saban...I do not respect Bama and never will.

Whatever LSU's modern football program is today, was built by Nick Saban. If you don't believe me, just pull up our record of Ws & Ls from 1990 to 1999...then, look at LSU's record for the 5 years Saban was here...look at when the majority of modern facilities were built for the football program, and look at when money to the TAF began to surge to new heights...that is all due to Mark Emmert and Nick Saban.

"Emmert was named Chancellor of LSU in 1999. He led the creation of the "Flagship Agenda," an effort credited with moving the university significantly forward in its standing as an academic institution, an effort that is still credited with advancing the university in very significant ways. During his tenure the academic preparation of entering freshmen increased substantially. Enrollment from across the country increased as well. LSU's research profile improved as a result of new research initiatives, particularly in computer science, marine and coastal science, and basic sciences. A number of academic construction projects commenced, including buildings and renovations for music and dramatic arts, marine biology and coastal studies, biology, residence halls, and the student union. Fund raising projects were begun that have resulted in dramatic improvements in the Ogden Honors College, the E.J. Ourso College of Business and the College of Engineering. Improvements were made to athletic facilities, most notably the creation of the Cox Communications Academic Center, renovation and expansion of Tiger Stadium, and a new state-of-the-art enclosure for the campus mascot, Mike the Tiger, that has become a major attraction for visitors to campus. Emmert’s wife, DeLaine Emmert, was very engaged in these fund raising efforts. State support for the university reached a then-historic high during Emmert's tenure.

In 1999, Emmert hired Nick Saban as football coach. LSU won the BCS Championship in 2004 under Saban's tutelage.
The graduation rate of the LSU football team, among the lowest in the SEC when Emmert arrived, was among the highest by 2004.

In 2001–02, a university instructor made accusations of academic fraud in the school's football program, including plagiarized papers and un-enrolled students showing up in class to take notes for football players. At the time, LSU was already on NCAA probation due to violations in the men's basketball program for violations that predated Emmert's employment. A university-led investigation into the academic fraud allegations found only minor violations. The report stated, "Despite isolated incidents, the allegations were largely unfounded." The NCAA accepted LSU's finding and self-imposed minor penalties (loss of two football scholarships) and declined to put the school on probation. Subsequently, two women sued the university for forcing them from their jobs as a result of whistleblowing about the academic fraud. The lawsuits were settled for $110,000 for each person. During the case, an employee of the academic counseling center confirmed the women's claims under oath, including changed grades for football players. A portion of Emmert's salary was paid by the LSU Foundation, The Alumni Foundation and the Tiger Athletic Foundation.[2]
In September, 2016 Emmert was honored by LSU as the first Haymon Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Ogden Honors College."

I mearly recognize that he is the Gold Standard. And, he knows how to defeat LSU before we even take the field!!! He steals LA recruits that LSU not only wants, but needs and must have...the double wammy.

Many are missing that this is the point I'm trying to make...

NoPandGglasses you got bashed up pretty good in this thread but do agree on some of your points. It is essential that LSU keep top talent home. Saban Knew this when he was at LSU . How many Top players left La. when he was the head coach? I dont think any. He also didnt have to deal with a dynasty right down the road either like LSU has to deal with now.Lead by Saban himself. I understand the frustration trust me watching bama just totally manhandle LSU the last 7 years is hard to swallow when we used to be on an even playing field.

How do you compete with a team that literally grabs the top players from every state not Just Louisiana? Your argument would be by keeping them instate. I agree but how do you that when the kid did not grow up an LSU fan? and is dead set on leaving the state. such as Cam Robinson/tillery at ND. Now you add the bama factor which is winning Nc's and yearly playoff trips to a kid that has no real connection to LSU. Prime example the Dlineman from Amite. They have done everthing to keep this kid at home even offered his brother a scholarship. Yet it looks like he is going to bama. I do think LSU needs some work on recruiting certain areas of the state such as amite and the northern parishes but U-high is not one of them.

The only thing that would help LSU getting these types of kids instate and surrounding states like : texas, miss,Fl would be to start making playoffs. Then LSU becomes the cool school like bama/clemson are today. That starts at the Top with the head coach. That starts with a 10 win season this year and a playoff next year. I like you am not content with 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the SEC west and if next year ends with a 10-3 or 9-4 record than Ed O needs to be shown the door not given an extension.
