LSU has an agreement with players. LSU gives a scholarship and they play football. Period. AND now those players get stipends.
Players DO NOT HAVE TO PLAY!!! They can pay like the rest of us.

LSU also has a responsibility to take care of the players too. If they misdiagnose a player and it results in further injury, the player has every right to raise hell
