I think space travel is one of the things that unites us as a species and could potentially prevent us from fricking eating each other in the long term.
In terms of the technology that was created either directly or indirectly by the Apollo missions, I wonder if there is a kind of diminishing returns when it comes to space travel as it currently exists. In other words, would a manned mission to Mars really yield as many significant advancements as the initial trip to the moon did? I’m inclined to say no, but who the frick knows.
I think until there is some kind of frameshift discovery in physics, our potential is kind of stunted and further spending on space travel may not be as beneficial as everyone in this thread would have you believe. But I’m kinda talking out of my arse and still definitely support it cause space is kewl.
