I have. From a recommendation here. I still dont really know how i feel about it. Some parts are enjoyable, some parts are really dry. I remember it taking awhile to get through, then only reading about 100 pages of the sequel. I enjoy Scalzi and pierce brown type sci-fi more. But I would still call it a good read. Excellent prose. The story just didn't grab me.

Thanks, ive been trying to get into more sci fi - really only read the older classics as well as the three body problem.
ETA: just finished greatcoats 2 / knights shadow. It was good but was so brutal in the 2nd half it was tough for me to keep my head in it.
