I've seen Tech 5's cost contractors a lot of money from incompetence and "shutting" operations down.....then get removed from said project for incompetence.

DOTD inspectors 30 years ago had some savvy and sense.

The ones nowadays I've interacted with are comical, to say the least.

That's why I enjoy working in the private sector, or with a consulting firm. Together, we get shite done!!!

MrSmith the turnover at the DOTD has been so bad the last 10 years, so much knowledge and common sense has been lost due to retirement or pay in the private sector ( or bad moral!). I agree most of the Techs these days just don't know as much as they should, and I'm not sure how that gap can be bridged. Training departments can only do so much. The useful knowledge was passed on from the older experienced guys. That just doesn't happen anymore.
I know a guy that just retired 40+ years in, he can still tell you details on jobs from 30 years ago. Hard to replace that.
