It was fun watching them try to refute this point.
There was a George Lucas interview where he discussed making Star Wars. The contrast really shines through.
Lucas: no killing off of main characters. No edgy, "cool" stuff. Goal is to make a fairy tale, a classic adventure where the good guys are good, the bad guys are bad, and the good guys win. Pure good vs evil battle. Errol Flynn movie, with the best realistic effects you can manage.
Rian's creation allowed by Disney: good guys are jerks. Bad guy has a good side. Surprise twists out of character for iconic hero, who gets killed off for some strange reason.

I think it's a pretty good movie. I think it's bizarre and hilarious how much it bothers you guys though
