Ya know, I think there's a valid point to be made here about polls and how media-driven they are. I'd be fascinated to see how Trump's numbers would fare against Obama's if there was a way for to control for the disparity in media coverage.
Trump's numbers being in the 40s is astounding to me considering how hard the media rails against him with every broadcast and op-ed possible. It's amazing to compare that to how much they fawned over Obama. He walked on water in their eyes and they made sure we knew it.

You know the media covers trump far more than they do Obama, right?
