Anyone ever lime wash their brick?

Anyone ever DIY lime wash their brick house? What did you do? How did it turn out? Would you do it again? Do you have before and after pics?

we bought the expensive stuff from home depot and returned it after i took a 10 dollar bag of lime from the store, soaked in water and painted it on with a big swab brush.
Took a little bit of spraying off and redoing to get the way i wanted, but came out nice.
This was only a porch though, not on a house.
