My feeling is that she murdered him and that she had the entire thing planned to give her an out. The fact that the defense of “everything looks the same on each floor, etc” is her defense and has muddied the waters is exactly what she wanted. I think she mis calculated the aftermath though. I feel that she thought an investigation would ensue and that her story would be accepted and there would be no type of charges brought and put before a grand jury.
She had created a situation where she could kill him and still get off.
The fact that they have charged her with murder indicates to me that they have evidence pointing to the likelihood that this was murder. She left some bread crumbs somewhere and her plan wasn’t as foolproof as she thought.
