Old time A5s look cool and all, but they are absolute mules to shoot for an extended amount of time... Especially if you don't have a buttpad on the stock.

I don’t have much to add about shooting steel shot, but my uncle won a Belgian made 3” magnum A5 years ago with a 32” full choke and he’s killed a ton of deer with it over the last 40 years shooting buckshot. I’d love to get my hands on that gun.

You ain't kidding about that thing kicking. I have an A5 from the 50's that my stepdad gave me in really good condition. It's a Light 12 that I only break out for special occasion skeet tournaments, and after the 80th or so shot I start to question my decision making ability.

It also has "special steel" stamped on the barrel and I wasn't sure if that meant you can shoot steel through it or not, although I never have. So this thread cleared that up for me too.

Do you have the friction rings flipped the correct way?
Having it the wrong way usually ends up with a cracked fore stock.
