quote:I'm one of those that will never be 100% happy. I always see the room for improvement. But that doesn't mean I will always be unhappy... just at a max of 95%.
I know there are still a lot of people not sold on O but I defy anyone to point to aspects of this team that indicate anything other than a very well coached team. No stupid penalties, improvement week to week, effective adjustments before and during game, playing with emotion, great ST, clock management, TO management
Having said that, other than nitpicking some squad's performances (e.g. WRs) and some schematic stuff (e.g. being predictable with formation vs. play), this has been a good coaching job for all the reasons you mention.
Even the stuff one can nitpick, you see work being done. That is a coaches job. Coaches aren't supposed to produce a perfect team. Coaches are supposed to be the nitpickers and improve things... yes- even in victory. I see enough of that to say 'good coaching'.
If it continues, or accelerates, then it may become 'great coaching'. I'm not there yet on the 'great' part. I will say 'good' however, with confidence.
All this needs to backed up with recruiting. For example: Yes, we're short on talent on the OL. Let's improve that. Good coaching is making the best of it. Let's apply that good coaching to great talent and make everybody happy.
One thing of note: I see buy-in everywhere. I see confidence most everywhere. Yeah, it's kind of easy when you're 5-1 or better. But tonight was a response to ourselves and the lackluster performance, both sides of the ball, in the Swamp. That's buy-in. That comes from the coaches with a boost, one must note, from strong leadership at the QB position.
