These are all paid scripted employees of the NFL. The appearance of personal opinion by the analysts is all part of the script.
The NFL will maintain an outward appearance of honoring Drew Brees while having their paid hitmen tear him down.
What reason would the NFL have for conducting a heavy handed campaign against a multi-historic record holder?
The answer is simple and can be derived by a simple question: Who stands to benefit from disparaging Drew Brees?
Tom Brady and Peyton Manning benefit legacywise by the anti-Brees campaign.
It is difficult to explain to any logical person that a player like Drew Brees who may one day hold every major passing record, is somehow not top 2 or top 5 or maybe even top 10.
The more sacred records Brees maintains begins to diminish the legacies of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.
When Manning was allowed to break Brees' single season passing record on a backward pass, you begin to see the concerted effort to protect legacies.
The NFL has built a money making narrative all around Brady and Manning and will maintain that narrative at all cost.

Unfortunately, because Brees broke the record, it inevitably brought up the where does he rank all-time subject on every show.
Problem is, most talking heads have their subjective opinion that since he is not the tallest or has the strongest arm that wows you with every throw, they downgrade him & disrespect him, even though objectively, he owns practically every passing record that these taller cannon-armed QBs could not set or retain.
The only talking head that gave him props was Chris Carter and he specifically said he wasn’t gonna disrespect Drew with a ranking because it was “his day” to get praise.
It’s a shame that this dude has been doubted & disrespected at the HS level, College level and now, the Pro level, despite the championships and leading stats at every level.
