Recommendations for a movie theater in NOLA

Planning an anniversary weekend in November. We spent our anniversary in NOLA a few years back and saw a movie at Canal Place. It was a good experience being they served good food/drinks, no kids, but from what I've heard it's gone downhill. Subpar food/drinks/service and sightings of mice running around in the theater. Not sure if it's still like this but just looking nice theater that's well kept and not a dump.

not sure who told you that. canal place still seems to be the same. if you are staying downtown thats really your only option unless you go all the way down to the Broad Theater

Friend of mine told me that about Canal Place but that was months ago. He told me they usually go to the Broad now.

Is the Prytania still around?
I believe it has the distinction of being mentioned in both The Moviegoer and A Confederacy of Dunces

Prytania... my wife and I do a date there every year and watch the original Halloween movie.

Broad or if you like what they are showing...Prytania is great

Prytania is a cool old theatre, but I usually just venture out the Palace in Clearview mall out in Metairie. Easy parking and they have the lounge chair movie seats.

Broad theater is definitely the place to go for a date.

not much better than a quick bite at La Crepe Nanou down the street from the Prytania then heading over with a to go bottle of wine.
though Broad does have a nice bar as well.
both solid choices in different ways
