The selfishness of people...not talking looting. POS I worked with called me crying that he was asked to work for Katrina. Grown man crying and pleading with me to work for him. The bosses called me in because he was such a pussy and was screwing stuff up. People who didn't work during Katrina were still paid full salary (5 weeks). Jump forward to a month after..still working out of Baton Rouge. The bosses called the guy to show up at the main building in New Orleans to help clean up. He freaking complained and asked why don't they have me come in to clean up. I lost my house and didn't even have a place to stay in New Orleans... ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbirdtongue.gif)

I remember the shite going down in the garage by the Centroplex.
BR had seen its population essentially double overnight. LSU was shut down and was a staging area and PMAC was a triage center. Traffic was an utter nightmare. People were buying up almost every house that was for sale (even knocking on doors cold and asking people if they would like to sell their house).
The whole situation had the locals on edge (including the NBR people who were none too happy with NO peeps muscling in). Rumors flying about riots downtown.
Tense as frick.

I went to my house in Metairie as soon as they would let people back in. I had this fairly sturdy LSU folding chair that I kept in the backyard. It wasn't there, so I thought that someone had been at least in the yard if not the house and had taken it.
So I pack up a few things and drive out to Causeway, maybe 100 yards away, and I see my chair in the median. It was folded up but the legs were sunken into the ground a foot deep, like a javelin or something. The wind during the storm had caught it, thrown it up in the air over 4-5 houses and half the highway and slammed them legs first into the ground.
