Genetics can play a huge role. My college roommate was 6'2, a lean 230 and ridiculously built. Just jacked, period.

He worked out, but like 3 times a week for an hour or 2. About 5 hours per week spent in the gym. And he ate whatever whenever. Lot of tostinos cheap pizza.

I've been a gym rat working out 5-6 times a week and watching everything i ate to get as big as I could and lean at the same time.

But I've also gone 6 months without looking at a weight, eating pizza literally 5 times a week, going out boozing regularly, etc. And my waist size stayed the same, I would lose 10 lbs of muscle and gain 5 lbs of fat and still have an athletic build and look in shape. Doing nothing for 6 months or a year.

Genetics play a big role.

IMHO, this is an understatement, because, genetics play a DECISIVE role.

Now, anyone and everyone should improve themselves and be physically fit. HOWEVER, the truly beautiful human bodies are that way largely because of Genetics -- they have superior DNA with regard to the human characteristic of having a beautiful body. Call them "Mesomorphs", if you'd like to use the Old School term for them.
