Donald Trump has managed, in just shy of 24 months, to end 38 years of GOP worship of Ronald Reagan clap trap. Trump has put the lie to conservative ideology and I for one say good riddance to bad rubbish. None of the conservatives who whined about spending ever meant a word of it....look at how they all increased spending. Finally the base of the GOP is on board with increasing public spending and doing it on credit cards the way it ought to be done. So now both sides of the aisle openly understand that the only way to prosperity is increased taxation (tariffs), frick the free market with protectionism and increasing government spending! We are on the path to heights of greatness we never dreamt possible if we can only keep the damned libertarians (the free market doesn’t need tariffs or protectionism) and the few Reagan Conservatives left with their hand wringing “what about the debt” from somehow duping the smart GOP base....also known as the Trump supporters, from buying into all of that “ spending and debt is bad” horse shite we will be greater than ever.

The only path to wealth and opulence without years and years of sweat and back breaking toil is borrowing and spending. Trump understands this from his days in the real estate development bidness. The Base of the GOP is now on board with borrowing and spending and the Democrats have always been on board with borrowing and spending. That leaves about 20% of the nation who have been hit over the head with conservative ideas so hard and so often that they will never get right...bless their hearts...that’s ok...as long as 80% of the country understands that debt and spending is the path to wealth we’ll be OK....we can harbor a misguided 20%... I think y’all call them RINOs?

I don’t think your post is as meaningful as you think it is.

Is there a point where debt and spending are too high? The answer is absolutely yes to any rational person. The conversation has always been about our spending/borrowing being too high. Unless you can link to conservatives saying we shouldn’t spend or borrow anything.
